A network interface card (NIC) is a device that connect a PC to a network, which will allowing your computer to connect to a computer network.

The most common form of nic is ethernet – a very fast method in data transfer between computers.

NIC enables computer to provide and retrieved information from other computers on the same network – can be either Internet or local area network (LAN).

A LAN is a closed network that is connected via some NIC and hubs, which is usually not connected to the outside world or the Internet.
In this NIC, also equipped with a memory, and a special processor for processing data in the data transfer process, so will not burden the CPU in the process.
This adapter uses 16-bit slot (ISA slot) and 32bit (PCI slot) for data transfer.
